...winner of the public prize of the concertserie 'The Debut' 2009... 'Technically perfect, musically intelligent and emotional expressive...' Eindhovens Dagblad Ensemble Lumaka is an Amsterdam-based chamber music group comprised of flute, strings, and harp. Its members are from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, De Filharmonie Antwerpen, and the contemporary ensemble Insomnio. Ensemble Lumaka is one of the most successful young ensembles in the Netherlands, which has been recognized on the National and International level for its dedicated performances. In 2006 it was awarded first prizes in the Almere Chamber Music Competition (NL), in both the jury prize and The audience's choice prize. In 2009 it won the audience's choice prize for the best ensemble of the newcomer concert-series 'The Debut': a CD-recording with the Label Sol Classics. Since 2010 the ensemble has also worked with the German CD-label, Querstand (Kamprad). The quintet has performed in various venues throughout Europe, including the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw and Vredenburg Utrecht, and participated in several festivals such as 'Grachtenfestival', 'Bayreuther Orgelwochen', 'Peter de Grote', 'Musikalischer Sommer in Ostfriesland', and the 5th Thai International Harp Festival in Bangkok. Their performances have been broadcasted on the television program 'Vrije geluiden', and they are regular guests on 'Radio 4' and the 'Concertzender'.
